# Connect your Google or Outlook calendar

> Connect Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook, one at a time, to prepare your interviews from your calendar

Hirify reads your calendar and brings your video meetings into the **Calendar** page. You then choose, meeting by meeting, which ones the meeting assistant should join.

## What Hirify reads and what it doesn't write

The permission Hirify asks for covers reading your events. Hirify doesn't create events, doesn't send invitations, and doesn't change anything in your calendar.

Only the meetings in your calendar that carry a video meeting link show up in Hirify. A calendar meeting without a video link doesn't appear on the **Calendar** page. For those conversations, see [Record an in-person interview](/en/interviews/in-person). If your ATS is connected, the **Calendar** page also shows the interviews scheduled there. See [Record automatically from your ATS](/en/interviews/automatic-from-your-ats).

## Connect Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook

Each person connects their own calendar. There's nothing to decide at the organization level.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Settings, then Integrations">
    Click **Settings** at the bottom of the sidebar. Then open **Integrations** and scroll down to the **Calendars** section.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Connect">
    Next to **Google Calendar** or **Microsoft Outlook**, click **Connect**. You're taken to your calendar provider to grant access, then brought back to Hirify.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the connection row">
    The row shows the address of the connected account, the **Last synced** date, and the number of events synced. The **Connect** button is replaced by **Disconnect**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## One active calendar at a time

Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook can't be connected together. As soon as one is connected, the other's button gives way to **Active calendar: Google Calendar** or **Active calendar: Microsoft Outlook** and becomes inactive.

To switch calendars, first disconnect the active one, then connect the other.

## Send the meeting assistant to a meeting

Connecting your calendar doesn't start any recording. You pick each meeting.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Calendar">
    In the sidebar, click **Calendar**. The view shows your week. The arrows move you from one week to the next, and **Today** brings you back to the current week.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click the meeting">
    A panel opens on the right with the meeting's title and time.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a template, then add the meeting assistant">
    Under **Notes template**, select the template to use for the interview notes, then click **Add the meeting assistant**. A **Meeting assistant scheduled** icon appears on the event.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Until the meeting starts, the same panel offers **Update** to change the template and **Delete** to remove the assistant.

The three ways to bring in the assistant are covered together in [Record a video interview](/en/interviews/video-meetings).

## When your calendar changes

Hirify follows your events and adjusts the assistant accordingly.

* **Meeting moved**: the assistant is rescheduled for the new time.
* **Meeting canceled**: the assistant is removed.
* **Video link removed from the event**: the assistant won't join.

## Disconnect your calendar

In **Settings**, **Integrations**, **Calendars** section, click **Disconnect** next to the connected calendar. The procedure and what it changes are described in [Disconnect a tool](/en/integrations/disconnect-a-tool).

<Warning>
  Let the candidate know before you record. What to tell them and sample notices are gathered in [Inform your candidates](/en/trust/inform-your-candidates).
</Warning>

## Good to know

* Access is read-only. Hirify never writes to your calendar.
* A meeting in your calendar without a video link doesn't show up. The **Calendar** page therefore doesn't show your whole week.
* You can't add the assistant to a meeting that has ended. The panel shows **Event ended** and only a **Close** button.
* Once the meeting has started and the assistant has joined, the panel only offers **Close**. The template can no longer be changed.
* Connecting your calendar isn't enough to cover interviews scheduled in your ATS. That case depends on a separate setting, described in [ATS automations](/en/integrations/ats-automations).
* The calendar is personal. The **Calendar** page shows your own events, not your colleagues' events.
