# Review an interview

> Move between the three views of an interview, Notes, Key takeaways, and Transcript, and trace any sentence back to the moment it was said

The interview page gathers everything Hirify drew from the interview. Three views sit side by side: the interview notes, a short summary, and the word-for-word transcript. This page explains how to move between them and how to trace a statement back to the part of the conversation it comes from.

## Open an interview

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the interview list">
    In the left menu, under **Interviews**, click **Interviews**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click the interview's row">
    Only completed interviews open. An interview that's still processing, marked **Too short**, or marked **Failed** stays visible in the list but can't be opened.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the top bar">
    The three tabs **Notes**, **Key takeaways**, and **Transcript** sit on the left of this bar. The interview title appears on the right, followed by its date and duration on wide screens.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  On the right edge of the screen, a vertical bar opens three panels: **Actions**, **Analysis**, and **ATS** when your organization has connected its ATS. What the **Actions** panel contains depends on the open tab.
</Note>

## The Notes view

This is the view that opens by default. It shows the interview notes. You can edit the title with a click and the text line by line. Next to the title, a label shows **Saving…** while your changes are saved, then **Saved**.

The interview notes Hirify produces on its own carry an **Auto** badge. A row of pills above the document lets you switch from one note to another. The **New note** button at the end of the row opens the **Pick a template** window. As soon as an interview has two or more notes, the **Notes** tab shows how many. On older interviews with no interview notes, the view offers **Generate interview notes** and **New note**.

While generation is running, the view shows a waiting state with the key takeaways under the heading "In the meantime, key takeaways". If generation fails, a message says so and offers **Try again**. The transcript and the analysis aren't affected.

To edit, rewrite, or translate interview notes, see [Read and edit interview notes](/en/notes/read-and-edit).

## The Key takeaways view

A paragraph, then a **Key points** list. It's the shortest read of the interview, meant to be skimmed between two meetings. The **Open interview notes** link at the bottom switches to the Notes view.

Here the **Actions** panel offers a single command, **Copy key takeaways**, which copies the paragraph and the bullets to your clipboard.

Three other situations can come up:

* **No summary for this call**: either no candidate took part in the conversation, or its content isn't enough to produce a summary.
* Generation in progress: a message says so, and the text appears as soon as it's ready.
* **Key takeaways unavailable**: generation didn't complete. The **Try again** button starts it again.

## The Transcript view

The transcript lists each turn in order. Each line shows the speaker's name and the time range of their turn.

Click the text of a line to correct it. Enter saves, Esc cancels. The **Done** and **Cancel** buttons do the same. If a CV was added to the interview, the words Hirify corrected from the CV are underlined with dots. Hover over them to see the original word and its correction.

When you hover over a line, a button appears to the left of the avatar. It opens the actions for that line's speaker: **Rename**, **Candidate** or **Not the candidate**, **Swap with...**, and **Merge with...**. These actions are covered in [Identify speakers](/en/interviews/identify-speakers).

The **Actions** panel offers **Copy transcript** and **Download as TXT**.

## Switch views and trace back to the source

The three tabs stay visible at all times. One click is enough. The page address remembers the open view and the selected note, so a link copied from your browser reopens the interview exactly where you left it.

The most useful path starts from the **Analysis** panel. Everything Hirify puts forward there is backed by a quote from the interview:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Analysis panel">
    Click **Analysis** in the vertical bar on the right.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Expand the quote">
    Click an item in the **To decide** or **Covered** list to expand it, then click **Show quote**. The quoted turn appears between the turn before it and the turn after it, with the speaker's name and the timestamp. **Hide quote** closes it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the full passage">
    If the excerpt isn't enough, click **Open in transcript**. Hirify switches to the **Transcript** tab, scrolls to the quoted line, and briefly highlights it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Good to know

* The interview page doesn't play back the audio. Tracing back to the source means finding the written sentence and its timestamp, not listening to the recording again.
* The Transcript view has no search field. To find a passage, start from a quote in the **Analysis** panel or scroll through the turns.
* Correcting the text of a line doesn't rerun the interview notes or the analysis. Documents already produced keep their original wording until you regenerate them.
* Key takeaways don't exist for every interview. They aren't generated when no candidate took part in the conversation or when the content doesn't lend itself to a summary.
* A member only sees their own interviews. Managers and administrators see the whole organization's interviews. See [Roles and access](/en/getting-started/roles-and-access).
