# Export and share interview notes or a full interview

> Get interview notes out as PDF, DOCX, or TXT, or the full interview with its transcript, to pass on to your team or your client

Interview notes leave Hirify in two ways: through your clipboard, to paste elsewhere, or as a file, to pass on. Everything happens from the **Actions** panel, on the right edge of the interview page.

<Note>
  Actions on the interview notes only appear on the **Notes** tab, and only once the notes are complete. On the **Key takeaways** and **Transcript** tabs, the panel offers the actions for those documents.
</Note>

## Copy the interview notes into another tool

In the **Interview notes** section of the **Actions** panel, there are two ways to copy, for two different destinations:

* **Copy as document**: keeps the headings and paragraphs. Use it for a document or a note-taking page.
* **Copy as bullets**: flattens the structure into a list. Use it for a text field that can't handle formatting, such as the fields in your ATS.

To copy just one part, hover over the text. The handle that appears in the left margin offers **Copy** for that field or section.

## Export interview notes as PDF, DOCX, or TXT

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the right note">
    If the interview has several notes, choose one in the **Notes** section of the panel. The download covers the note that's open.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Scroll down to Download">
    The **Download** section offers three buttons: **PDF**, **DOCX**, and **TXT**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Download">
    Click the format you want. The file lands in your downloads folder, named after the template and the date.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Pass on an entire interview

No export bundles the whole interview into a single file. A download always covers one note at a time, and the transcript downloads separately.

So work in two steps: download each note from the **Download** section, then download the transcript from the **Transcript** tab. An interview with a single note fits in two files.

## Copy or download the transcript

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Transcript tab">
    On the interview page, click **Transcript**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the Actions panel">
    The **Transcript** section replaces the interview notes sections.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy or download">
    **Copy transcript** puts the text on your clipboard. **Download as TXT** produces a file.
  </Step>
</Steps>

In both cases, the text is laid out one turn per block, preceded by the speaker's name. Take the time to check the names before passing it on. See [Identify speakers](/en/interviews/identify-speakers).

The **Key takeaways** tab has its own action, **Copy key takeaways**, for a short summary to paste into a message.

## What each format contains

| Format         | Contents                                                                                                  |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **PDF** | Interview title, date, duration, and participants, then the formatted interview notes, with page numbers. |
| **DOCX** | The same elements, in a document you can edit in your word processor. |
| **TXT** | The same elements, as plain text without formatting. |
| Transcript TXT | The turns, one per block, with the speaker's name. |

None of the interview notes files contains the transcript. The interview notes and the transcript remain two separate exports.

## Good to know

* Interview notes must be complete before you can download them. While a generation is running, the export is refused.
* The **DOCX** export only exists for interview notes, not for the transcript.
* Exporting isn't sending. Nothing goes to your ATS this way. To pass the interview notes on to your ATS, see [Share the analysis](/en/integrations/send-to-your-ats).
* Exported interview notes contain personal data about a candidate. What you do with them is your responsibility. See [Your data](/en/trust/your-data).
* There's no sharing by link. Sharing goes through the file you pass on, or through your colleagues' access to the interview in Hirify.
