A call made from Hirify becomes an interview like any other. It’s recorded, transcribed, then analyzed. This page covers placing the call and setting the number your candidate sees.
Tell your candidate before you call. The call is recorded and transcribed, and informing them is your responsibility. See Inform your candidates.

Start a call from the dashboard

On the Dashboard, the Start an interview block brings together all the ways to record.
1

Enter the number

If a calling line is already set as default, a field starting with +33 waits for the candidate’s number in the format “6 12 34 56 78”. Otherwise, click Call to open the call window and enter the number there.
2

Confirm

Press Enter or click the arrow in the field. A malformed number triggers the message “Invalid French number. Expected format: 6 12 34 56 78.”
3

Allow the microphone

On your first call, the browser asks for access to the microphone. Without that permission, the call doesn’t go through and the window shows Allow microphone.

The call window

The Phone call window brings together three settings:
  • Number to call: 9 digits. The error messages guide you: “The number must have 9 digits”, “The number can’t exceed 9 digits”, and “The number must start with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7”.
  • Caller ID: the line shown to the candidate. Your dedicated line carries the Hirify badge and comes first in the list.
  • Microphone: the audio input used. The Check audio link expands two tabs, Mic and Speakers, so you can test before dialing.
Click Start the call. If no line is set up, the window shows “No line.” and a Set up shortcut to the calling settings.

Follow the live transcription

The call goes through its states in the window: Connecting, then “Ringing…”, then Call in progress with the timer. During the conversation, a green light and the words “Live transcript” confirm that the conversation is being captured. The window doesn’t show the text as it comes in. It tells you that transcription is running, and you read the transcript after the call on the interview page. Two buttons stay within reach: one mutes the microphone, the other hangs up. While the call is active, the window won’t close and shows “End the call before closing this window”.

End the call and find the interview notes

Hang up. The window switches to Call ended, shows the duration, and displays the Transcript saved badge. You can then choose between Close and Call again, which immediately redials the same number. The interview joins your interview list under the title “Call with” followed by the number. Processing continues in the background. The transcript, then the interview notes, appear on the interview page when they’re ready. See Review an interview.

Choose the number shown to the candidate

The Caller ID list in the call window brings together two kinds of lines:
  • Your Hirify line: your dedicated line, marked with the Hirify badge.
  • Your Secondary caller IDs: numbers you already own and have had verified.
Select the line just before dialing. The choice applies to the current call.

Add and verify a secondary caller ID

Your existing numbers can still be used for outbound calls, as long as you prove they’re yours.
1

Open the section

Go to Settings, Calling, the Secondary caller IDs section, then click Add a number.
2

Enter the number

The Add a caller ID window expects 9 digits after +33. An incorrect format shows “Invalid number (9 digits required)”.
3

Choose the verification method

Verification method offers Text message or Voice call. Click Send the code.
4

Enter the code

Type the 5-digit code received on that number. The screen specifies “The code is checked automatically. The message can take up to 2 minutes to arrive.”
The secondary caller ID table lists the Number, the person it’s Assigned to, and its Status: Verified, Pending, or Failed. From the actions menu, you can resume a pending verification with Enter the code, use Edit name on a verified number, or Delete it. After a deletion, you have to verify the number again to reuse it.

Set the preferred number

A verified number can become the one Hirify offers by default. In the secondary caller ID table, open the line’s menu and choose Set as preferred. The Preferred badge shows next to its status. The same setting is available without leaving the call window. In the Caller ID list, the Set badge appears when you hover over a line, and Default marks the one already selected. This preferred number also controls the call shortcut on the dashboard. The +33 field only appears if a dedicated line is active or a secondary caller ID is marked as preferred.

Caller ID display depends on carriers

The Secondary caller IDs section says it plainly: “These numbers show up for most recipients, but in some cases the call may appear as a private number. For guaranteed display, use your Hirify number.” A secondary caller ID depends on the network that carries the call. If the display matters to you, use your dedicated line.

Good to know

  • Only French numbers can be dialed from the app.
  • The Starter plan includes a monthly quota of 300 call minutes. The Hub plan has no quota. The counter is under Usage on the Subscription page.
  • A call that’s too short isn’t transcribed.
  • Hirify never sends a message to a candidate. The verification text message goes to your own number, never to theirs.
  • The controls to add, verify, and delete a secondary caller ID only show for the organization’s administrators.
