Read an Assistant answer and check its sources

An Assistant answer reads from top to bottom: its written answer, the documents it produced, then what that answer relies on. This page shows you how to recognize each part and trace any statement back to its source.

What an answer contains

While the Assistant works, a line says what it’s doing, for example Reading the interview’s analysis… or Updating the interview notes…. It disappears when the answer arrives. The written answer comes next. Depending on the request, it’s followed by:

• A document: the interview notes, brief, interview prep, outreach draft, or dashboard you asked for. It appears as a row with its name and version, for example Interview notes · Camille Durand, Version 2. One click opens it in the right-hand panel.
• A question: when the request is ambiguous, the Assistant asks it and suggests ready-made answers.
• One or two suggestions for what to do next. They fill in the input field without sending it.

Below the answer, the Copy the answer icon grabs the text, and the N sources button opens the list of what it looked at.

Open a document

The document opens in the right-hand panel, next to the conversation. Its title opens a menu listing the conversation’s documents and their versions: a requested change produces a new version without erasing the previous one. At the top of the panel, Copy puts the document on your clipboard, and the cross closes the panel. Interview notes written in the conversation offer Save as note, which files them with the interview’s notes. A change requested on interview notes already saved applies directly to the note: the panel shows Saved in the notes and offers Undo as long as the note hasn’t changed since.

An answer’s sources

The N sources button below the answer opens the Sources panel. Each item consulted has its own row, which expands with a click: At the top of an analysis, a badge sums up the verdict: Strong match, Likely match, Possible match, Weak match, or Not enough data. Next to it, a percentage followed by a level shows the average confidence of the facts extracted from the interview. It isn’t a score for the candidate. A deal-breaker has a title, a severity (Critical, High, Medium, or Low), and, when there is one, the exact sentence spoken in the interview.

Trace a statement back to its source

In the written answer, a candidate’s name is underlined. Hover over it to open a card with their current role, their experience, the interview verdict, a summary, and the useful facts (target role, availability, salary expectations, location, points to watch). At the bottom, Open the interview takes you to the interview page. Mentions of a job, a note, or an application show a preview on hover in the same way. Open in the ATS takes you to the original record in your ATS.

Timestamped excerpts

A statement drawn from an interview is followed by its minute, in 3:24 format. Hover over it or click it to open a card that shows:

• the speaker, the minute, and the interview the passage comes from
• the verbatim quote, in quotation marks
• the Open the interview at 3:24 link, which opens the transcript at the right spot.

From an interview’s Assistant tab, that link switches to the Transcript tab of the same interview and highlights the passage, without leaving the page. When the quote couldn’t be matched, the card shows Quote unavailable. instead. The statement stays on screen, but you know it isn’t backed by a specific passage.

When a source is removed automatically

Hirify checks every cited reference before showing you the answer. If a reference doesn’t match anything actually consulted during the exchange, it is removed and a discreet banner says so below the answer: 1 candidate reference removed (not found in the tools used), or the plural count.

What to do if an answer doesn’t convince you

If a technical error occurs, a red banner appears below the conversation with Try again.

Good to know

• The candidate is never given a numeric score. The percentages shown relate to confidence in the extracted facts, not to a person’s worth.
• The Assistant doesn’t decide for you. It gathers and cites. The call is yours.
• An answer is only as good as its data. Without a connected ATS, its answers lack candidate profiles and applications. An interview that hasn’t been analyzed is missing too, without a word. The answer will be partial and nothing will flag it.
• An answer writes nothing to your ATS. Interview notes produced here stay in Hirify until you push them yourself.
• A missing source has no hidden equivalent. An ATS profile or a job’s pipeline is missing for one of two reasons: the data wasn’t found, or your ATS isn’t connected. The Assistant says so in its answer.
